Dad’s Letter

Dear child,

Just penning down my thoughts because a few years from now things will be different and I’ve seen lot of changing faces around.

A few years from now…I’ll be an old man  and well then I think you should have some patience for me and try to understand me.

I will ask many questions and keep repeating things…don’t get irritated child……..just remember  your childhood when u were a bundle of questions and I kept answering patiently…and even the fairy tales which I used to repeat and repeat till u slept.

I might not be able to walk properly and would need a cane or support….just hold my hand and help me stand….just remember the days when I taught u to walk…

I know you will be busy with work and assignments and if m not able to use ur hi-tech devices do teach me….will take time  but I’ll learn and  just give me a hug after u return from work as I did when u were small.

A few days from now I might not be able to tie my shoe laces, just remember ur first days"' at school.

With my age ignore my shabby clothes and the food which falls down while eating just remember the days when u used to come home dirty from school and hog over the table.

I might forget things too child ….age as they say makes disappear the facts….so don’t get annoyed while telling me again and again the same thing remember  all the times u used to forget the table of 13.

And finally my habit of asking the same thing again and again don’t just shrug off  but reply every time,  as I always replied ur non-stop questions way back when u were a toddler.

A time comes in life when you stop living and start passing  your time………..you are the answer to my prayers child so be patient and hold me firmly during my fag end of life. Your smile will always make my day. It always did.

It’s a cycle my child……I did it for u and now u are doing it for me, we have just exchanged our roles.
